Our gardens can be a source of real pleasure and most of us find a lot of joy in jobs like pruning hedges, mowing the lawn, filling a flowerbed with beautiful plants and embellishing borders with decorative stones. That said, some gardening tasks can quickly become tiresome whether you are carting your tools from one end of the garden to the other or moving around bags of compost, gravel or grass clippings.
A garden trolley can be the ideal solution to stop gardening from becoming a chore. Used to carry around tools, heavy bags, green waste or even firewood, a garden trolley can handle a range of tasks comfortably – and it'll protect your back in the process!
Wheelbarrows have proven their worth over years of loyal service, but garden trolleys are something of a step up. They feature similar or superior load capacities, provide greater flexibility and are easier to handle.
Available in a range of models, your choice of garden trolley depends on what you want to do with it. Some carts are very versatile and can be used for a variety of jobs while others are designed to handle more specific tasks.
That's why some garden trolleys are very basic – for example, two-wheeled plastic sack trucks – while others are more elaborate in design. The most advanced models may feature four wheels and a load capacity of up to 500 kg to handle any kind of task.
Garden trolleys are designed to make life easier. To help you make the right choice, here is a quick run down of the most common models along with their characteristics and most common applications:
plastic sack trucks feature two wheels and are easy to grip making them comfortable and very practical to use. While ideal for shifting smaller items such as garden tools or logs, these trolleys are not suitable for transporting soil or any bulky items;
garden tool carts feature a metal structure, two wheels and a large bag usually made of polyester. They are designed to carry around garden tools. These carts feature a range of exterior pockets specially designed for different tools and can hold up to 30 to 40 litres;
garden waste carts usually feature a metal structure, two reinforced wheels and a capacity of up to 250 litres. They are ideal for gathering leaves or other lightweight garden waste;
basic garden carts feature four wheels (two of which are designed to swivel). These carts are multipurpose and can hold up to 100 to 140 litres with a maximum load capacity of 150 kg;
tiltable garden carts have four wheels like basic models. However, they are also equipped with a tilting mechanism which makes them much easier to empty;
heavy-duty garden carts have four wheels and boast a load capacity of up to 500 kg. They may also feature a tow bar so they can be pulled by a ride-on mower.

For several years I have been running a garden service with a clientele of both individuals and companies. I manage a team of gardeners and ensure the creation and maintenance of green spaces. At the same time, I bring my expertise to my clients in terms of the maintenance and improvement of their gardens. In fact, as a trainee and working in the hospitality industry at the beginning of my career, I focused on landscaping in a local community where I acquired solid technical skills through in-house training and the follow-up of major projects in a rapidly changing town. On a personal level, I am equally oriented towards the art of gardening. With my wife, I created our garden from start to finish and I maintain it carefully, the same goes for the vegetable garden. As for DIYing, it’s not to be outdone. Yes, gardening is also tinkering: pergolas, huts, pavements, fences, and so on...There is always something to do in a garden. After working well together, my wife and I are proud of the result and delighted to be able to take full advantage of a friendly and warm environment. So, let us give you advice and help you in your choice of tools, maintenance, or the improvement of your garden, nothing could be simpler.
