A caster is the element that will allow you, or not, to transport your loads, your furniture or any other rolling support, easily and simply. However, care must be taken not to end up with a useless or unsuitable caster for your needs.
Some casters are only intended for indoor use, they are generally solid and made of rubber and are only used on clean and smooth floors such as resin floors, smooth concrete, tiles, etc.
They are also equipped with exclusive indoor functions such as the non-staining feature to avoid dirtying your floors at every turn. We can also mention the thread guard option in polyamide or another material, which allows you not to entangle the wires that lie around in the casters of your supports. This is a very practical option for supports used in cluttered environments.
Other less common casters are designed for outdoor use and are mostly inflatable because it is almost impossible to move on an uneven surface with a solid caster.
Then, casters are distinguished by their maneuverability:
Fixed casters only move in straight lines, this proves to be very practical for long corridors or large indoor spaces. Swivel casters allow for excellent maneuverability more suited to narrow and winding corridors or passages. It should be noted that combining both on the same cart or piece of furniture should not be avoided. On the contrary, it is strongly recommended to place swivel casters at the front of your furniture or cart and fixed casters at the back. The synergy between these two elements allows for very easy handling of your furniture thanks to the swivel casters located at the front and maintaining the chosen direction thanks to the fixed casters at the back. However, make sure to choose casters whose total height is equal or nearly the same.
Finally, spherical casters are perfect for small movements at a 360° angle, such as seats or rolling supports in small spaces and over short distances.
