no products foundFor a shower without compromise, opt for a superior quality ceramic mosaic that is water-resistant, stain-resistant, and easy to clean, offering timeless style and exceptional durability.
A wall mosaic is an alternative to traditional tiling for customizing the decor of a room. Made from glass paste, ceramic, marble, resin, or stainless steel, this type of coating can be installed in both the bathroom and the kitchen.
Wall mosaics have certain characteristics to be aware of:
- they are the smallest tiles available;
- they are made up of small calibrated pieces called tesserae;
- the tesserae are arranged on a fiberglass or nylon mesh to facilitate their installation;
- tesserae come in square, rectangular, hexagonal, trapezoidal, and even round shapes;
- this type of coating is suitable for wet rooms like the bathroom or shower, as well as for pools and dry rooms like hallways.
The wall coverings available are made from various materials.
- Glass and glass paste models are valued for their humidity resistance and their ability to reflect light. For this reason, they are suitable for the bathroom.
- Natural stone models can be treated to be waterproof. After treatment, they are suitable for wet rooms like the bathroom.
- Stainless steel and aluminum models add a modern flair to the room's decor. They are often installed in the kitchen. Resistant to humidity and household products, they can be installed outdoors.
- Some models combine various materials like stainless steel and glass for an original decoration.
Some tips are helpful for installing a wall mosaic:
- the panels are fixed to the wall using the same adhesives and tools used for laying traditional tiles;
- the nylon mesh can be cut with scissors or a utility knife;
- the cutting of stainless steel or aluminum tesserae is done with an angle grinder equipped with a metal or diamond blade;
- grouting is done using waterproof cement joints for perfect watertightness;
- an accent touch (wall section, kitchen backsplash, decorative border, bathtub ledge, etc.) is often recommended to avoid reducing the room's volume.
Regardless of the wall mosaic chosen, it is recommended to clean it with water or a common cleaning product. The use of an abrasive product is not recommended as it could damage the joints and tesserae.
