An LED strip must be carefully selected based on its use and the area to be illuminated. Each model is defined, among other things, by its brightness, color, and practicality. Therefore, it is necessary to consider these different factors to determine if the strip meets one's needs.
Currently, LED strips are highly sought-after decorative accessories by both individuals and professionals. Versatile, these devices are suitable for playful or commercial purposes. They can be used on any structure requiring a decorative light, including:
- in a house;
- in bars or nightclubs;
- in restaurants or hotels;
- in events;
- on signs or in shop windows.
An LED lamp is defined, among other things, by the color of the light it emits. Depending on the model, when it is on, the observer can perceive:
- a single color, often white, but the strips are available in several colors;
- multiple colors in alternation, following a certain frequency, as if the shades were flowing into each other;
- different colors following the user's commands. In this case, the color changes according to their lighting needs. However, it is necessary to be well informed about the use of this type of device to master the visual effect.
Besides the displayed color, the intensity of the brightness is one of the primary characteristics of an LED lamp. This specificity determines the use suited to each model. Thus, if the user wishes:
- to set up an ambient lighting, they should opt for strips displaying a maximum brightness of 1,200 lumens (about 59 W in terms of power);
- a soft light of less than 1,200 lumens for purely decorative use;
- to have a light source allowing to work, it is better to turn to strips emitting between 1,201 and 4,500 lumens (equivalent to 60 up to 100 W).
Practicality is one of the decisive elements for choosing an LED strip. The most practical models are:
- easy to handle, to install and to use;
- waterproof and withstand moisture;
- suitable for use indoors as well as outdoors;
- controlled remotely using a remote control;
- foldable and quickly adjust to the user's projects.
The choice of an LED strip depends on its use and the space to be lit. Thus, devices intended to illuminate an office or work plan will be significantly clearer than decorative accessories or those intended for ambient lighting.
