Chemical drain cleaners offer many advantages. Designed to unclog sinks, washbasins, and pipes, their effects are immediate. Packaged in liquid form, the chemicals at the base of these products are known for removing substances that block pipes (leaves, paper, or hair).
Unlike a plunger, a chemical drain cleaner can reach all corners and crevices of the pipes. Sold in liquid or solid form, it acts on grease, soap, hair, and leaf clogs. There are two types of chemical drain cleaners: basic cleaners and acidic cleaners. Each has its specificity. Basic cleaners, once poured into the pipes, form a very dense foam that adheres to the inner wall of the pipes to dissolve the residues sticking there (hair or grease). They are suitable for unclogging sinks, washbasins, and bathtubs. Acidic cleaners, on the other hand, contain sulfuric acid. This acid can dissolve fats and proteins, as well as toilet paper. They are more suitable for unclogging toilets.
