Sie bietet Pflanzen den notwendigen Halt an Stellen, wo sich kein Substrat hält, und schützt die Teichfolie vor Sonneneinstrahlung. Diese Matte hilft, unschöne, kahle Folienränder zu vermeiden und schützt die Teichfolie im Winter vor Beschädigungen durch scharfkantiges Eis. Sie ermöglicht es, den Teich bis zum Rand zu bepflanzen, da die Wurzeln der Teichpflanzen optimalen Halt finden. Die Matte kann auch mit Samen besät werden und lässt sich für besseren Halt mit der Teichfolie verkleben.
