300 Sunflower Seeds : Suitable for all environments, whether in pots on the balcony or in open ground.

Edible Flowers and Seeds : Enjoy the beauty of the flowers and harvest the seeds once mature. From sowing, you can admire the sunflowers and obtain your own seeds.

Planting Instructions

Important Note : For pot planting, do not sow all seeds at once. Plant about one-third at a time. Unused seeds should be stored in a cool, dry place and can be sown any time of the year.

Sowing Tips :

  • Soil : Preferably use nutrient-rich potting soil, peat, or seed blocks. Avoid yellow, clayey, or compacted soil, as it does not promote germination.

  • Temperature : Sow when day/night temperature is above 18 °C. Low temperatures slow germination. After sowing, cover to maintain warmth and humidity. Germination is fastest between 21 and 30 °C.

  • Moisture : Keep the soil moist throughout the germination period. Seeds only germinate in moist soil. After sprouts appear, water moderately: not too much, not too little.

Pot Planting – Detailed Steps :

  1. Pot Preparation : Fill the pot 70–80 % with nutrient-rich soil and water thoroughly.

  2. Sowing : Evenly spread the seeds on the soil surface. Cover with a thin layer of soil, just enough to hide them, and lightly press with your hand.

  3. Watering : Use a spray bottle to moisten the soil without displacing the seeds.

  4. Sowing Period : Place the pot in a bright, airy spot, protected from direct sunlight. Spray regularly before germination to keep the soil moist.

  5. Germination : Once sprouts appear, expose them to about 2 hours of diffused light per day in an 18–28 °C environment.

  6. Growth Period : Gradually increase light exposure. Water alternating between dry soil and thorough watering. Apply light fertilizer every 7–10 days: nitrogen at the beginning for stem and leaf growth, phosphorus and potassium later to stimulate flowering and seed production.

Additional Tip : Using imported peat or seed blocks promotes germination. Garden soil is not recommended.

Advice from

What to plant and sow in March

For most gardeners, the year really kicks off in March. Depending on where you live, the amount of sun exposure you have and what you plan to grow, you can start seeds indoors and in greenhouses, repot your indoor plants and sow your summer annuals. Lettuces, leeks and carrots can also go in the ground from mid-March.
