Product information

Description

1) Reliable circuit protection (overload + short-circuit), without residual current functionThis 3P C20A MCB miniature circuit breaker is designed to provide stable, everyday protection for installations against overloads (too many devices on the same line, conductor heating, insulation ageing) and short-circuits (insulation fault, damaged conductors, poor tightening). In the event of a fault, it quickly interrupts the power supply in order to limit the risks of overheating and damage to the wiring. Please note: this model does not include protection against earth leakage (no RCD/RCCB/RCBO). For personal protection (electric shocks), particularly in damp areas or socket circuits, it is recommended to add a suitable residual current device upstream.2) Clear technical characteristics for a choice compliant with European usesType: miniature circuit breaker (MCB) for distribution boardsPoles: 3P (three-pole), simultaneous disconnection of three conductors/waysRated current: 20 ATripping curve: C (suitable for loads with inrush current)Operating voltage: AC 230–400 VFrequency: 50/60 HzBreaking capacity: 6 kA (breaking capacity in the event of a short-circuit)Compliance: EN 60898-1 (standard current for low-voltage MCBs)These elements make comparison and integration easier in a domestic installation, light commercial premises or small workshop, depending on the board configuration and the presumed short-circuit level.3) C curve: a better compromise for loads with start-up (avoids nuisance tripping)The C curve is particularly valued in installations where certain equipment generates an inrush current at start-up. It offers greater tolerance to transient peaks compared with a more sensitive curve, while still tripping effectively in the event of a short-circuit or prolonged overload. Typical applications: air conditioners, pumps, fans, small motors, certain power supplies and electromechanical devices. Result: more comfortable day-to-day operation, with fewer “unjustified” interruptions when starting appliances.4) 3P format: ideal for three-phase and simultaneous disconnection during maintenanceThe three-pole (3P) format is perfectly suited to three-phase installations and circuits requiring common control of several conductors. It is used for: three-phase machine outgoing circuits, sub-boards and distribution in commercial premises, workshops or offices, or any situation where you want to isolate three lines at the same time to simplify lockout and increase safety during work. For a strictly single-phase installation (standard lighting/socket circuits), a 1P, 1P+N or 2P is more often chosen; here, the 3P meets the specific needs of three-phase or multipole circuits.5) Selection and integration advice for the board: rated current, safety and breaking levelThe 20 A rating must be chosen in line with the conductor cross-section, line length, installation method and the power actually drawn: the aim is to avoid a situation where “the cable heats up but the circuit breaker does not trip”. The 6 kA breaking capacity covers the majority of needs in residential and small commercial settings; in more demanding environments (near a transformer, networks with high short-circuit power), it may be relevant to check the presumed short-circuit current and, if necessary, opt for a higher breaking capacity. Finally, in the event of repeated tripping, it is advisable to look for the cause (actual overload, faulty device, terminal tightening, damaged insulation) rather than increasing the rating. A practical product for a tidy, readable and scalable board, when looking for overload/short-circuit protection without an integrated residual current function.
