Description
1) All-in-one protection for three-phase networks: integrated circuit breaker + residual current protectionThis 3P+N C16A modular RCBO has been designed for installations where you want to combine, in a single compact device, protection against overloads, protection against short circuits and protection against insulation faults (earth leakage). It is particularly suitable for three-phase circuits supplying standard equipment (motors, pumps, ventilation, air conditioning, small machines), as well as distribution boards in shops, workshops or homes with a three-phase outgoing line. By combining the circuit breaker function and the residual current protection function within the same module, you gain clearer board layout, simplify wiring, and reduce space requirements compared with a solution using two separate devices. In the event of an electrical fault, disconnection is rapid, which helps limit damage to conductors and equipment, while improving personal safety.2) Enhanced safety: rapid disconnection in the event of short circuit, overload or current leakageIn an electrical board, the aim is not only to operate a circuit, but also to control risks. This model provides three essential levels of protection:- Short circuit: if a fault causes a very high and instantaneous current, the device trips to prevent sudden overheating of conductors, electric arcs and damage to downstream equipment.- Overload: if a circuit operates continuously beyond what it can withstand (device too powerful, accumulation of loads, motor drift), the delayed tripping protects the wiring and limits premature ageing of insulation.- Insulation fault, leakage: as soon as a current leakage appears (faulty equipment, humidity, indirect contact, fault on a metal casing), the residual current function reduces the risk of electric shock and helps prevent certain electrically caused fires. This approach is particularly relevant in more exposed environments (damp premises, metal machines, technical areas), where residual current protection brings real added value on a daily basis.3) Technical characteristics suited to common uses (EN61009 standard)This 3P+N 16A is designed to integrate into the most common electrical architectures in Europe, particularly AC 230/400 V distributions. The stated parameters allow a clear choice in line with common selection practices in France:- Poles: 3P+N (three phases + neutral), ideal in three-phase with neutral management- Rated current: 16 A (to be sized according to cable cross-section and actual current)- Operating voltage: AC 230–400 V- Frequency: 50/60 Hz- Breaking capacity: 6 kA (according to the presumed installation Icc)- Tripping curve: type C, more tolerant of starting peaks than a type B curve- Standard reference: EN 61009, corresponding to RCBOs combining residual current protection and overcurrent protectionPlease note: certain important details for a final product sheet (residual current sensitivity in mA, dimensions, exact mounting type, terminal markings and tightening) must be added if you have them.4) C curve: a relevant choice for motors, compressors, pumps, air conditioningThe C curve is generally preferred as soon as a circuit supplies equipment with inrush current on start-up: asynchronous motors, fans, small machines, pumping units, air-conditioning compressors, etc. It helps avoid nuisance tripping while maintaining an appropriate level of protection in the event of a fault. In practical terms, this improves operating comfort: the installation starts more stably, and the user does not have to reset the board every time a device is started. This characteristic makes the product particularly suitable for three-phase outgoing lines in a shop, workshop or small technical infrastructure. For purely resistive loads (heating, certain lighting circuits), the C curve remains usable. However, if the inrush current is very high or if installation conditions are specific, the sizing should be checked (rating, curve, cross-section, cable length, discrimination).5) Recommended use: outgoing board lines, space saving, simplified maintenance (installation by a professional)With its 3P+N configuration, this modular RCBO is naturally positioned on three-phase distribution circuits: equipment outgoing line, machine power supply, dedicated line for pump or motor, or sub-board. The all-in-one format makes board organisation easier: fewer devices to line up, cleaner wiring, quicker identification during interventions. For reliable use, it is essential to follow the phase and neutral connection diagram, tighten the terminals to the appropriate torque, and periodically check for the absence of overheating or signs of poor contact (especially in dusty or damp environments). The choice of 16 A must be consistent with the actual circuit current and conductor cross-section: a rating that is too high may allow cables to heat up before tripping, while a rating that is too low may cause disconnections in normal use. For reasons of personal safety and installation compliance, installation and commissioning should be entrusted to a qualified electrician, particularly where three-phase systems and residual current protection are involved.
