Sie bietet Pflanzen den notwendigen Halt an Stellen, an denen sich kein Substrat hält, und schützt die Teichfolie vor Sonneneinstrahlung. Diese Matte verhindert unschöne, kahle Folienränder und schützt die Teichfolie im Winter vor Beschädigungen durch scharfkantiges Eis. Sie ermöglicht es, den Teich bis zum Rand zu bepflanzen, da die Wurzeln der Teichpflanzen optimal Halt finden. Zudem kann die Matte mit Samen besät werden und lässt sich für besseren Halt mit der Teichfolie verkleben.
