Sie bietet Pflanzen den notwendigen Halt an Stellen, wo sich kein Substrat hält, und schützt die Teichfolie vor Sonneneinstrahlung. Diese Matte hilft, unschöne, kahle Folienränder zu vermeiden und schützt die Teichfolie im Winter vor Beschädigungen durch scharfkantiges Eis. Sie ermöglicht es, den Teich bis zum Rand zu bepflanzen, indem sie den Wurzeln der Teichpflanzen optimalen Halt bietet. Zudem kann die Matte mit Samen besät werden und lässt sich für besseren Halt mit der Teichfolie verkleben.
