BBQ-Toro Potjie # 3 - South African cast iron saucepan - 8 litres

The potjie is a heavy, traditional, cast-iron pot and a precisely fitting lid with which you can cook, roast, braise, deep-fry, steam and bake anywhere. The potjie regulates the heat thanks to its high mass (cast iron) and thus enables even cooking. Simply put glowing coals, embers or grill briquettes on the lid and under the pot and the potjie experience can begin. The extra raised lid rim and the pot feet offer optimal conditions for coal or other fuels. Alternatively, the potjie can simply be placed in the fire or hung on a swivel grill.

In a Potjie, dishes such as braised meat, stews, bread, cakes and much more are child's play. Regardless of whether it is on a fire pit, barbecue area or campfire, the casting pot is mobile and flexible in use. The three legs offer a stable stand - a separate pot stand is not required. Dishes such as meat are uniquely tender and develop a delicious aroma thanks to the Potjie - you will be amazed!

Information on seasoning
BBQ Toro potjies are already seasoned and can be used immediately. If it needs to be seasoned again, clean the pot with hot water. Then rub it with taste-neutral vegetable fat (e.g. coconut fat). Place the potjie upside down for one hour at 200 °C in the oven (or better, outside in a hot kettle grill). Rub off any remaining fat. Finished. Repeat this treatment regularly so that the pores fill and the pot is optimally protected against rust.

Information about cleaning / care
Hot water is sufficient for cleaning - scrub off coarse food residues with a brush. Never use soap or harsh detergents. These destroy the fat layer and the pot must then be re-seasoned (see above). Do not keep any leftovers in the potjie. Remove ashes immediately after using the lid and pot, otherwise this, combined with moisture, will promote rust.

Storage information
Grease with good cooking oil, put a sheet of kitchen paper in the pot and do not close the lid completely. The potjie will thus easily survive long storage periods.

Order the potjie from BBQ-Toro now and enjoy your grilling results in a good mood and perfectly equipped!
