There are several types of sealants available: sealants for sealing, those for jointing, others for gluing as well as wood filler, aluminum filler, refractory mastic and many more. ManoMano offers a wide range of sealants (from SOUDAL, BOSTIK...) and has selected those ensuring the best quality/price ratio.
Mastic is an elastic paste used for making different types of joints (sealing joints, expansion joints…) but also for filling cracks or even gluing elements together. Several steps must be followed to apply mastic properly.
1) Surface preparation
To achieve impeccable results, it is important to properly prepare the surfaces where you will apply the sealant. Eliminate any adhesive residues, grease marks... Perfect cleaning will allow the mastic to adhere well to the elements.
2) Applying the mastic
For a perfect application of the mastic you can use tools, like a caulking gun for cartridge-based mastic. This will allow you to distribute the product evenly and thus avoid unsightly clumps! Then, you must smooth the mastic before it hardens.
Be aware, a sealant does not last long after opening (less than a year generally). Thus, to be able to reuse it and prevent it from drying out, store it under the conditions indicated by the manufacturer.
