General Description: This Zama replacement carburetor is compatible with Stihl chainsaw models MS 170, MS 180, 017, and 018. It plays a crucial role in generating the optimal fuel-air mixture for starting and running the engine. A faulty or incorrectly adjusted carburetor can lead to problems such as starting difficulties, unusual noises, smoke, or loss of power. Installation: Before replacing the carburetor on your Stihl chainsaw, first check the condition of the gasket between the carburetor and cylinder. After installing the new carburetor, the mixture screws must be adjusted using a flathead screwdriver. There are two adjustment screws: Screw L (for "low speed") and Screw H (for "high speed"). First, tighten these screws completely, then loosen them two turns for the basic setting. Operation: After installing the carburetor, start your chainsaw and listen to the engine running. Adjust the mixture screws according to the engine sound: If the engine stalls before acceleration, turn the idle screw slightly out to richen the mixture. If the engine stalls after acceleration, tighten the idle screw to lean the mixture.
