The foam seals: These are generally the least expensive. They are simply installed by sticking them to the frame or sash of your windows but they wear out quickly and are not always very effective.
The PVC, rubber seals: these seals are the mid-range option, they are installed by sticking or nailing them to ensure their hold. More expensive than foam seals they are, however, more durable and available in different shapes to better fit your opening.

The metal seals: Their installation is more complex as the seal must be nailed to the frame or sash of the window depending on the product. They are also more expensive but provide a much more effective result than plastic or foam seals.
Seals with special shapes are also available for frames or sashes, they are neither adhesive nor to be nailed but fit into a groove in the wood of the frame and have plastic anti-return ends that lock the seal and ensure its hold.
