Evolution Aqua K1 Bio Filter Media is suitable for use in mechanical and biological filtration systems.

The Filter Media provides large surface areas for good bacteria to colonise and this increases the efficiency of a box, pressure or multi-bay pond filter.

K1 media is engineered in a wheel shape and has a slight neutral buoyancy. This allows the media to circulate throughout the vessel with only a minimal water flow.

The media provides the maximum active surface area for the bacteria to colonise, much more than other types of static media. It is this process which removes harmful ammonia and nitrite from the water.

Within the wheel is a protected surface which enables colonies of bacteria to naturally follow their lifecycle, of maturing, dying and then fueling the latter stages of the nitrification cycle.

K1 is different from other media as it moves within the filter and causes old dead bacteria on the outside of the wheel to be displaced, leaving space for new bacteria to rapidly develop.

Filter maintenance time can be reduced by use of the media. The K1 is designed to freely move in a filter, this movement causes the media to self clean as it turns unlike foam and static filter media that require removing and cleaning. This self cleaning process allows the filter to be effective without the disturbance caused by regular cleaning as it avoids the unnecessary loss of vital bacteria.
