Karl Dahlman perfected it and won a gold medal at the Brussels Inventors' Fair. In 1969 he launched the first electric air-cushion lawnmower, and 8 years later adopted the colour orange. In 1983, Flymo received the Queen's Award for Technology, the highest distinction for high-tech companies in Great Britain.
