For long or small measurements, you will definitely need a tape measure! You can choose from brands like STANLEY or CROSS, which will ensure quality products. On ManoMano, we have a varied range: tape measure with locking system, shock-resistant case, Mylar coating, lacquered steel or fiberglass tape...
How to choose your tape measure?
The choice will essentially depend on the type of measurements you are taking: if it's about short measurements (generally up to 10 meters), then turn to a tape measure with a small closed case. If, on the contrary, you need to take long measurements (starting from 10 meters), opt for a tape measure with an open or semi-closed case equipped with a crank. However, if you need to take both short and long measurements, we advise you to equip yourself with both types of tape measures. Why? For the simple reason that your tape measure for long measurements will not necessarily be very practical for small measurements.
Then, what differentiates tape measures and explains their price, more or less expensive, is firstly the material of the case: it can be simple plastic or a shock-resistant thermoplastic material: ABS. It can be chrome-plated or not, or even a combination of several materials.
The material of the tape is also very important since it will be particularly stressed during use of the tape measure. That's why, we offer flexible tapes, in steel, or in fiberglass, sometimes with coatings, for even more protection. Thus, we find the Mylar coating, which prevents abrasion and multiplies the life of the tape by 10 as well as a thermoplastic Blade Armor coating which again optimizes protection, but this time, on the first 15 centimeters, the most fragile part. Finally, the tape can also be fluorescent to allow better readability in dark places.
As for options, there is generally the locking system, which allows holding the tape in its position without having to use a hand. There is also the belt clip, to be able to easily carry your tape measure without being encumbered. Some tape measures also have a direct reading, that is they have a window at the top of the case that allows to read the measure directly and easily. Finally, most of the tape measures designed for long measurements are equipped with a crank, more or less effective, to be able to wind/unwind the tape effortlessly.
