Enhancing comfort and hygiene, the hand wash basin is becoming an increasingly widespread necessity in bathrooms. This sanitary equipment comes in various versions to meet all needs. The hand wash basin cabinet is one of these variants.
Less bulky than a sink, the hand wash basin maximizes bathroom space. Coupled with a cabinet, it can serve to store hygiene or cleaning products, and contributes to the room's aesthetics by hiding pipes and connections coming out of the wall or floor. Various elements must be considered for this fixture to be in harmony with the bathroom layout.
The hand wash basin cabinet should be chosen primarily based on the available space:
if the room is quite narrow, the chosen model should be small in order to leave enough free space;
if it is spacious, it is entirely possible to opt for a larger unit for more comfort and convenience.
The type of opening is also a determining criterion in the choice of a hand wash basin cabinet:
classic, the hinged door offers an opening whose direction can be changed;
resembling a drawer when closed, the drop-down door with hinges has a front that folds down towards the user;
the vertical sliding offers a closed storage without the clutter caused by a swinging door;
allowing the storage to be opened along its entire length, the sliding drawer provides a good storage volume and more comfort of use.
Depending on the functionality sought, it's possible to choose:
a suspended unit offering easily accessible storage and freeing up floor space;
a model with a long cabinet, ideal for hiding pipes.
As for the material of the wash basin, there are now many alternatives such as:
ceramic: offering a high mechanical strength and increased resistance to wear, this material is widely used in the manufacture of basins and hand wash basins;
synthetic ceramic: non-porous, solid, and homogeneous, this material stands out for its great resistance to scratches and stains;
stone: providing a natural look to the bathroom, it has the advantage of matching all styles.
When choosing a hand wash basin, it is advised to consider both the practical aspect and the aesthetic effect of the objects that will complement it. This advice applies just as well when choosing a hand wash basin cabinet as it does for a toilet cabinet or an under-sink cabinet.
