Product information

Description

Round die: Thread: M16 x 1 (right-hand); Outer diameter: 38 mm; Thickness: 10 mm; Accuracy class: 6 g. Made of M2 (6542) high-speed steel, it offers high hardness, good wear resistance, and excellent cutting performance. Wide range of applications: Round dies allow for machining, correcting, or cleaning external threads and are used for threading materials such as stainless steel, aluminum alloy, cast iron, copper, iron, and plastic. Ideal for the maintenance and repair of pipes, panels, and machinery. Features: Conical locking hole, high locking force, no loosening. Suitable for re-tapping existing threads in hard materials such as metal and creating new threads in soft materials such as plastic. The surface is grease-lubricated to prevent rust, the thread is clean and easy to repair. Ease of use: The die is used with a die holder (also called a die handle or die wrench). The die's positioning groove must be aligned with the fixing screw in the center of the wrench, then the screw should be inserted into the groove and tightened. A quarter to half turn is necessary to facilitate chip evacuation through the designated hole. Tips: Apply a suitable lubricating oil to the cutting edge of the die during tapping. The end of the bar should be chamfered at 1 x 45°, without the chamfer being too deep. The bar diameter must be smaller (by approximately 0.05 mm to 0.15 mm) than the nominal diameter of the required thread.

Advice from

Taps and dies buying guide

Taps and dies are essential to make or re-thread a screw, a nut or any other mechanical element. The three-piece tap sets are the most commoly used and the tap wrench is as important as the die stock for a proper tapping. Drilling is required before tapping.
