Description
1) Reliable circuit protection (without residual current protection)This 1P 16 A MCB miniature circuit breaker is designed to provide protection against overloads and short circuits in an electrical circuit, downstream of a distribution board. It is a standard protective device widely used in homes and light commercial settings to secure a dedicated line (lighting, sockets, small air conditioning, control supply, etc.). Please note: this model has no residual current protection (no protection against earth leakage or insulation faults). It is therefore mainly intended for overcurrent protection; if your installation requires personal protection (e.g. bathroom, kitchen, outdoors, sensitive socket circuits), it is recommended to add an RCD/RCCB (residual current device) upstream, or to opt for an RCBO depending on the board configuration.2) 16 A rating: a common choice for domestic circuits and small premisesWith its 16 A rating, this circuit breaker is suitable for many standard uses: socket circuits, small equipment, moderate dedicated circuits. It helps limit the risks associated with excessively high current over time (conductor overheating, connection deterioration, premature ageing of equipment). The choice of rating must however remain consistent with the cable cross-section, line length, installation method and load power. In line with good French practice, protection is always selected according to the actual circuit, in order to avoid the unfavourable scenario where “the cable heats up before the protection trips”.3) C tripping curve: suited to versatile applicationsThe C curve is particularly valued for installations where inrush currents may occur on start-up (small motors, fans, pumps, certain lighting drivers, portable power tools, etc.). Compared with a B curve, it tolerates transient peaks better, which helps limit nuisance tripping at start-up, while remaining effective in the event of a clear fault. For an end user, this results in more comfortable day-to-day operation: the device genuinely protects in the event of an anomaly, without cutting off unnecessarily during normal start-up.4) 6 kA breaking capacity: enhanced safety in the event of a short circuitThis circuit breaker offers a 6 kA breaking capacity, a common and relevant value for many residential and commercial environments. In practice, this means that in the event of a significant short circuit, the device is designed to interrupt the fault current under controlled conditions, limiting the risk of damage and helping to protect the circuit and the board. This characteristic is a key element for greater peace of mind in the face of sudden faults (damaged insulation, conductors in contact, faulty tightening, etc.), especially when robust protection is required on a specific outgoing circuit.5) Simple board integration and EN 60898-1 complianceCompact format, easy installation and maintenance: this 1P MCB is designed for practical integration into an electrical board, with simple restoration of service after diagnosis (unlike a fuse that must be replaced). It operates on AC 230 V to 400 V, 50/60 Hz, covering the most common configurations. Compliance with EN 60898-1 is part of a product approach intended for modular distribution circuit breakers. Recommendations for use: follow the wiring diagram and polarity according to the installation, ensure correct terminal tightening (and periodic checks after thermal cycles), and avoid using the circuit breaker as a frequent operating switch. For areas at risk of direct contact or humidity, provide suitable residual current protection in addition, as this model is deliberately focused on overcurrent protection.
