Product information

Description

1) Reliable circuit protection – without residual current functionThis 2-pole (2P), 20 A, type C miniature circuit breaker (MCB) is designed to provide protection against overloads and short circuits in domestic and light commercial electrical installations. It is suitable for electrical distribution boards in houses, flats, shops, small workshops or outbuildings.Important: this model is a thermal-magnetic circuit breaker only and does not provide protection against insulation faults (earth leakage). It does not replace an RCD/RCCB device nor an RCBO. For higher-risk circuits (bathroom, kitchen, washing machine, water heater, outdoor sockets, damp areas), it is recommended to add a 30 mA residual current device or a suitable RCBO in order to improve personal safety.2) 2P format: simultaneous disconnection, greater peace of mind during maintenanceThe 2P configuration allows two conductors to be disconnected simultaneously (often live + neutral depending on the wiring scheme). This design is appreciated when a more complete power isolation is required during work, troubleshooting or maintenance operations. Depending on local practices, double-pole disconnection also makes fault diagnosis easier by limiting situations where part of the circuit remains potentially live. This circuit breaker fits into a modern board logic: clear protection, simple resetting after tripping and repeatable use, unlike fuses.3) Technical characteristics suited to common uses (EN 60898-1 standard)Product type: Miniature circuit breaker (MCB), without residual currentNumber of poles: 2PRated current: 20 A (continuous operation under the intended conditions)Tripping curve: C (a good compromise for general loads with moderate inrush currents)Operational voltage: AC 230–400 VFrequency: 50/60 HzBreaking capacity: 6 kA (suitable for many residential installations and small commercial premises)Compliance: EN 60898-1These elements make it easier to choose the current rating and ensure a European reading of performance: overload (thermal) and short circuit (magnetic) are handled quickly and automatically.4) Type C 20 A: ideal for mixed circuits and appliances with inrush currentType C is recommended for circuits supplying common loads that may have a starting current: small motors, fans, low-power pumps, switched-mode power supplies, standard household appliances or mixed socket/lighting circuits (depending on the installation design). In single-phase 230 V, a 20 A circuit theoretically corresponds to around 4.6 kW (230 V × 20 A), but the actually usable power depends on several factors: conductor cross-section, line length, installation method, ambient temperature, simultaneous use. For a durable installation, prolonged operation close to the maximum is avoided and sizing and selectivity rules are observed.5) Integration advice: combine residual current protection according to areas and needsThis circuit breaker protects cables and equipment against overheating due to overloads and the destructive effects of a short circuit. However, protection of people against indirect contact and certain electric shock risks requires suitable residual current protection (for example 30 mA). For a compliant and safe installation, the installation must be carried out by a qualified person: tightening terminals to the appropriate torque, choosing the cable cross-section, circuit identification and checking in the event of repeated tripping (a possible sign of overload, a fault on an appliance or an intermittent short circuit). This model is an excellent choice as a 2P 20 A thermal-magnetic protection device to be integrated into a board, while retaining the flexibility to add the RCCB/RCD required according to the environment and electrical architecture.
