A job for the very skilled Excellent value Fan
For the skilled, an easy enough installation around 2 hours if your ceiling is ready and perfect. There is enough room to store the cables in the ceiling rose but have to take care the positions of wires and plugs for them not to be trapped. Installation instructions are pictorial only and not clear enough in places. Some earth wiring needs disconnecting, routing during assembly and reconnecting. Make careful note of supplied assembly before disconnection. Worst issue was the wires on the control box were too short to reach the terminal block as depicted. I had to swap the supply wiring to the other side to make it work! Make sure the supply cable is tucked tightly aside to leave room and protected from any chaffing edges. Just remember lighting circuits do not usually have RCCD protection even if your ring main has! Fit the blades last after you have got the unit fully wired and checked the fit. The 3 blades were well balanced with 2 I weighed for curiosity at 200 grammes and one at 201g. Fit them each, ensuring they are symetrically and evenly mounted. The lowest blade surface is 205mm from ceiling and the bottom of the lamp cover 320mm from ceiling. Noise level was important to me. The motor hums quietly as it is AC. (DC fans should be quieter) Noise level approximately equivalent to an ultrasonic tooth brush running in the next room. With it running, you would still hear a pin drop on a laminate floor. Fin itself makes a similar pin drop noise level but dully. So if hearing pins dropped all night keeps you awake, this will. Myself, I can just about cope at low speed, which is lower than most! 84rpm if i remember correctly? 2 higher speed levels get progressively noisier. Mainly from aerodynamic noise. The blades are not shaped aerofoils (just slabs) so turbulence, thus noise will increase with speed. As the motor is reversible, this would be hard to get right for the money. Installed at the beginning of winter for my wife who gets hot flushes, so it is in reverse (up-flow mode) so it brings in a gentle breeze from the sides. Suggest for Asthmatics that you should maintain a dust free environment before use. You wont want to kick it all up! Read more

exactly what we were looking for
Wiring ceiling roses is always a bit of a challenge and this was no exception. Bit of a squeeze getting all the wires safely tucked away but, once done, the rest was very straight forward. Read more
