The individual colors on the scale mean the following:
Blue: Layer thickness 0.0–100 micrometers – a thin layer of paint (without primer or clear coat). Green: The original paint layer has a thickness of 100–200 µm. Note: On newer models, a thin second clear coat may be up to 180 µm thick. Yellow: The layer thickness after paint repair (second coat) is 200–300 µm. Red: Layer thickness 300–520 µm – surface after sheet metal repair + second coat of paint. Black: Layer thickness over 520 µm – body filler and paint (body filler approx. 0.5 mm).
