3. Store the tester in a cool, dry place. Usage:
Before using this tester for the first time, you must calibrate it to your pool or spa water by following these steps:
1. Test your pool or spa water using a conventional liquid test kit.
2. Record the chlorine reading as needed.
3. No adjustment is necessary for pH. How to find the adjustment point for chlorine testing:
1. Insert one 1.5V AA battery into the handle compartment.
2. Hold the tester in one hand and the probe in the other.
3. Insert the cleaned metal probes into the water up to the black band.
4. Gently stir the water with the probe.
5. With the probe still in the water, turn the dial on the front of the tester fully counterclockwise towards "CL". Slowly turn the dial clockwise until the needle corresponds to the chlorine level you recorded with the conventional liquid tester (e.g., 1.5 ppm).
6. Remove the probes from the water without touching the dial. The indicator moves fully to the right and stops on a letter between A and E. This letter is your "adjustment point."
Note: Each time you use this tester to test the chlorine level, you must set it to the "adjustment point" before proceeding with the test. Testing Chlorine Level:
Recommended chlorine level for pools and spas: 1.2 ~ 1.7 ppm
1. Position the needle at your "setting point".
2. Holding the tester in one hand and the probes in the other, insert the probes into the water up to the black band. Wait for the needle to stabilize for a more accurate chlorine reading.
3. Leave the probes in the water. Testing pH Level:
Recommended pH level for pools and spas: 7.2 ~ 7.8
1. With the probes still in the water, turn the dial fully to "pH" until it clicks into place (the battery must be off for the pH reading).
2. Wait until the needle stops at the pH value.
3. Gently dry the probes and insert them into the holder on the side of the tester for storage.
