Description

General Description

This set of two high-speed steel straight flute taps is designed for tapping standard M20x1.5 screws. Made from high-speed steel, these tools offer high hardness and excellent wear resistance, suitable for general applications. They can be used to create new threads or repair damaged ones. Their standard metric thread design ensures rapid chip evacuation for efficient tapping. Technical Specifications Item Type: Straight Flute Tap Material: High-Speed Steel System: Metric Thread Number of Threads: 4 Thread Tolerance Class: 0.014 Tap Style: Through Hole Tap Applications: Heavy Steel, Rubber, Aluminum, Copper, and Wood Installation The workpiece should be properly secured in place. The face of the workpiece to be tapped should be positioned horizontally or vertically to facilitate tapping. To begin, insert the tap and apply light pressure while rotating it. Check the tap's perpendicularity to the thread base after 1 to 2 turns. If necessary, use a square to correct the angle. After 3 to 4 turns, the tap's direction is usually determined. Use a coolant (such as water) to prolong the tap's life. The first cone of the tap is for rough machining, while the second cone allows for fine machining and thread polishing. Once all cutting edges of the tap are embedded in the material, no axial force is required; the tap can be screwed in naturally by the thread. Other information: Contents: 2 x straight flute taps, 1 x storage box.

Advice from

Taps and dies buying guide

Taps and dies are essential to make or re-thread a screw, a nut or any other mechanical element. The three-piece tap sets are the most commoly used and the tap wrench is as important as the die stock for a proper tapping. Drilling is required before tapping.
