Product information

Description

Features:

1. Premium Material: High-speed steel taps have high hardness and wear resistance. Uncoated taps have only a basic substrate without any additional coating and are suitable for a wide range of applications.

2. Function: There are two taps in total to facilitate alignment of the tap and the tapping hole, ensuring that the tap and hole are perpendicular to each other and that they tap smoothly. It also has a smoothing effect on the thread (removes burrs). 3. Standard Thread: Standard metric thread design, clear and neat, allows for quick chip removal for efficient threading. Can create new threads or rethread damaged or jammed threads. 4. Wide Application: Suitable for most metals, iron plate, copper, zinc, alloy steel, abrasive steel, A3 steel, stainless steel, etc. Appropriate addition of coolant (e.g., water) can extend tap life during tapping. 5. Applicable Industry: Mini metric taps are mainly used for clocks, watches, soft wood, and tapping holes in soft metals. Primarily used for manual operation, tapping the vast majority of materials in through-hole conditions.

Specifications:

Item Type: Hand Thread Tap System: Metric Number of Threads: 3 Thread Tolerance: 0.014 Through Hole/Blind Hole: Through Hole Material: High-speed steel Tap Style: Straight groove Thread Code: Standard thread Application: Suitable for thick steel, rubber, aluminum, copper, and wood. How to Use: 1. There are 2 in a set, and it can also be divided into a first tap and a second tap.

2. The function of the first tap: The front part of the first tap has a cone, which is smooth and without threads (very shallow), making it easy to align the tap with the tapping hole. This ensures the tap is perpendicular to the hole and is tapped gently. 3. The function of the second tap: In addition to preparing the first tap to meet the standard, it also plays a role in cutting the thread (removing burrs). For blind holes, the threads can be tapped downwards. Simply put, the first tap performs the roughing and the second tap performs the fine machining. 4. Generally, the side of the workpiece to be tapped should be positioned horizontally or vertically. This makes it easier to judge and maintain the tapping direction perpendicular to the thread's base surface when tapping the thread. 5. When you begin tapping the thread, try to position the tap as far as possible, then press down on the tap's axis with one hand and gently rotate the hinge with the other. After the tap has turned 1 to 2 full turns, observe from the front or side whether the tap is perpendicular to the base surface of the thread in the workpiece. If necessary, use a square to correct it. Generally, after tapping 3 to 4 turns of thread, the direction of the tap is essentially determined. If you begin tapping the thread incorrectly, you can unscrew the tap, correct it with the second cone, and then tap the thread with the first cone. When the cutting edge of the tap enters the workpiece, no axial force is required, and the thread will naturally screw in. 6. When tapping the thread, each time the hinge screw is turned, the advance of the tap screw should not be excessive. Generally, it is advisable to advance the thread by 1/2 to 1 turn at a time, and the tap should not be turned more than 1/2 turn at a time for threads smaller than M5. When tapping thin threads or threads requiring higher precision, the feed rate should be reduced accordingly each time. The tapping speed for cast iron can be suitably faster than that for steel. After each turn, the reverse movement is approximately 1/2 of the screw stroke. When tapping a deeper thread, the rotational stroke is greater, and several reciprocating movements are necessary to break the chips. This promotes chip removal and reduces chip sticking to the cutting edge, thus maintaining a sharp edge. At the same time, the cutting fluid can smoothly penetrate the cutting area, which acts as both a cooling and lubricating agent. 7. When rotating the hinge lever, the operator's hands should be balanced. Do not use excessive force or shake from side to side, otherwise the thread profile may easily tear, causing the threaded hole to expand and become conical. Advice from

Taps and dies buying guide

Taps and dies are essential to make or re-thread a screw, a nut or any other mechanical element. The three-piece tap sets are the most commoly used and the tap wrench is as important as the die stock for a proper tapping. Drilling is required before tapping.
