Ensuring the proper functioning and hygiene of the pond, the pond filter foam is an accessory that guarantees water quality and maintains its balance. The foam is a means of mechanical filtration that helps prevent algae growth and also contributes to ensuring the good health of fish in the pond.
Indeed, the quality of a pond’s water is altered by the interaction of several living organisms:
- aquatic plants;
- insects;
- bacteria;
- fish.
The pond filter foam helps maintain water quality, meaning it ensures the balance between:
- the amount of oxygen in the water and
- the amount of suspended matter.
The pond filter foam serves to retain dirt and large particles. Indeed, it is in charge of trapping suspended waste to remove it. It is often associated with a biological filtration system to make the water perfectly healthy.
Durable and reliable, mechanical filters are formed with foam blocks that guarantee water transparency. The filter also includes several filtration elements that retain bacteria and toxic waste. This is biological filtration. Indeed, it prevents the water from becoming opaque and the biological balance of the pond from being disturbed. Thus, mechanical and biological filtration systems are essential to guarantee the balance of this ecosystem. Here is an overview of pond filter foams:
- Japanese mat;
- filter foam;
- Japanese filter;
- external aquarium filter.
Water is purified when it comes out of these different filtration materials. It is then returned to the pond to replenish it. It is recommended to choose a pond pump and filter that are adapted to the volume of the pond to be treated.
