Description
This repair kit is for the main power transmission components of the Polaris 280 robotic pool cleaner. It includes a drive shaft (likely corresponding to part C-86) and two turbine bearings (C80). The drive shaft is a critical component that connects the cleaner's internal turbine (hydraulic turbine) to the drive system. It transmits the turbine's rotational motion and torque to the gearbox, which drives the impellers. The turbine bearings support the turbine shaft, ensuring smooth, low-friction, high-speed rotation. The drive shaft and turbine bearings withstand continuous torque and high-speed rotation, making them among the most wear-prone parts inside the cleaner. Prolonged operation in water containing fine sand particles can cause bearing wear, resulting in poor rotation, increased noise, or even a blockage. The drive shaft itself can also become bent or break due to fatigue. Once these components are defective, the most obvious symptom is weak operation, slowdown, or even complete immobilization of the cleaner, as the turbine power can no longer be efficiently transmitted to the wheels. Replacing this kit requires a major repair involving opening the main chassis of the vacuum. Once replaced, the turbine power will be efficiently transmitted to the drive mechanism, restoring the machine's original movement capabilities and cleaning efficiency. This operation is essential to giving a second life to the now aging Polaris 280 vacuum.
