Ronseal Direct to Metal Paint is a high-quality, water-based paint designed specifically for metal surfaces. It provides a tough, durable, and long-lasting finish, making it suitable for both indoor and outdoor applications. This paint can be applied directly to rust without the need for a primer, ensuring minimal preparation is required. With a quick recoat time and showerproof properties in just 30 minutes, it offers up to 15 years of protection.

Installation

Ensure the metal surface is clean, dry, and free from dirt, dust, and grease

Remove loose rust or paint with a wire brush or sandpaper

For previously painted surfaces in good condition, lightly sand with 240 grit sandpaper

For flaking paint, remove completely before applying

Stir the paint thoroughly before use

Apply 2-3 coats, allowing 2-4 hours between coats

For spray application, dilute with about 10% water or as specified for your sprayer

Usage

Apply with a brush, roller, or spray for best results

Allow each coat to dry for 2-4 hours

For optimal durability, apply three coats on rusty metal

Touch dry in 30 minutes after the final coat

Other information

Clean brushes and rollers with warm soapy water after use

Do not dispose of leftover paint into drains or watercourses; follow local disposal regulations

Regular inspection and touch-up may be needed to maintain appearance and protection
