Product information

Description

Round Thread Die : Thread Size: M16 x 1.5 (Right); Outer Diameter: 38mm/1.5"; Thickness: 10mm/0.39"; Precision Class : 6g. Made of high speed steel M2 (6542), it has high hardness, good wear resistance and excellent cutting performance.

Wide range of applications : Round dies can process, correct or clean external threads and are used for processing ordinary threads made of stainless steel, aluminum alloy, cast iron, copper, iron, aluminum and plastic. Ideal for maintenance and repair work on pipes, boards and machines.

Features : Tapered locking hole, high locking force, no loosening. Suitable for re-tapping existing threads in hard materials such as metal and creating new threads in soft materials such as plastic. The surface is lubricated with grease to prevent rust, the thread is clear and easy to repair.

Ease of use : The die is used with a die holder (also called die handle or die wrench). The positioning groove of the die should be aligned with the fixing screw in the middle of the wrench, and the screw should be inserted into the groove of the die and tightened. It must be turned every 1/4 to 1/2 turn to facilitate the removal of chips through the chip hole.

Tips : Appropriate lubricating oil should be added to the die cutting edge when tapping the thread. The end of the bar should be chamfered at 1*45 degrees, and the chamfer should not be too large. The diameter of the bar should be smaller (about 0.05mm-0.15mm) than the nominal diameter of the required thread.

Advice from

Taps and dies buying guide

Taps and dies are essential to make or re-thread a screw, a nut or any other mechanical element. The three-piece tap sets are the most commoly used and the tap wrench is as important as the die stock for a proper tapping. Drilling is required before tapping.
