Type of welding
Coated electrode - MMA
Frequency of use
MIG (metal inert gas welding) & MAG (metal active gas welding)
Both subtypes of Gas metal arc welding (GMAW). The most commonly used home welding method and generally the easiest to learn. This process causes an electric arc to form between a consumable wire electrode and the work piece metal(s), which heats the work piece metal(s), causing them to melt, and join.
