Strong and durable. The magnet is very strong at holding the door open and preventing it from swinging, thus avoiding the door hitting the wall or another object behind it. The magnet has a spring inside the receiver to cushion the impact. It's not terribly noisy or bothersome, but it's something to keep in mind.
