Thermoguard Clear Intumescent Fire Varnish Basecoat. 20 square meters.

Description and Use

Thermoguard Fire Varnish is an exceptionally clear lacquer for decorative fire protection of prepared timber and timber derivative surfaces. Its special formula provides a hard, durable finish suitable for panelling, boarding, doors, floors, furniture etc. It's clear finish enhances the natural beauty and fire protects new and previously varnished internal timber surfaces.


Mix the base and activator components in ratio 2:1. Stir base and add activator slowly; continue stirring vigorously until a homogeneous mix is obtained.Usable pot life 1 ½ - 2 hours.
Brush, roller or spray.

Apply 1 or 2 coats of Thermoguard Fire Varnish. After 12 hours (min.) apply 1 coat of the appropriate Topcoat.

1 coat Thermoguard Fire Varnish @ 6 .5 sq m per litre to achieve Class 0 */ EN Class B;
Then 1 coat Thermoguard Fire Varnish Overcoat @ 12 sq m per litre." **

**2 coats FV Overcoat for potentially wet or external areas or fruitwoods.

Ensure surfaces are clean and dry. Maximum timber moisture content 18%. Maximum relative humidity during application and drying 8°C. Minimum surface temperature 3°C above dew point.
Clean equipment with water immediately before and after use. Ensure adequate ventilation during drying.

BS476 Part 7; Class 1 surface spread of flame.
BS476 Part 6; Fire propagation.
European EN Class B
Designated Class 0 in accordance with UK Building Regulation

To be used in conjunction with Thermoguard clear fire varnish overcoat. The protective Fire Varnish Overcoat provides protection against UV and wear, while offering a choice of sheen levels. Thermoguard Fire Varnish has compatible Overcoats available in Gloss, Matt & Satin. .
