Vachette is one of France's historic companies, founded in 1864 in Troyes by Bresson and Vachette in the cradle of French locksmithing. It specialised in furniture locks before manufacturing door locks. In the 1930s, it moved into industrial production and gradually conquered the whole world. In 1997, the company was acquired by the Swedish group Assa Abloy, one of the giants of the security sector. It manufactures at its two industrial sites in Longué and Sainte-Savine. Vachette is also very committed to respecting the environment, choosing materials with a low environmental impact. It promotes hardware that is accessible to disabled people. Vachette seeks to help tomorrow's designers emerge by organising the Vachette creative competition in partnership in 2011 with the "Emergency Architects" foundation, which helps homeless victims of natural disasters.
