What are the advantages of Li-SOCl2 technology?
Lithium thionyl chloride batteries have a low self-discharge rate (approx. 3% in the first year and then 1%), a long shelf life (up to 10 years) and one of the highest energy densities among lithium batteries. This means they provide more high-performance power in less space and are ideal for long-term application. LiSOCl2 batteries can be stored at a relatively large range of temperatures and are used in “low-energy discharge” devices e.g. electronic meters, medical instruments, desktop PCs.
