- Rustins Xylene Thinners are used to thin most oil-based paints, making application easier and more even. They are especially suitable for use with Rustins Damp Seal and High Heat Paint. The thinners can also be used to clean brushes and equipment used with oil-based paints. They are particularly effective for restoring old paint and varnish that has become slow drying. To use as a thinner, add a capful of the product to half a litre of paint or varnish and stir well.
