A surface skimmer can come with or without a handle. As its name suggests, it is used to collect residues floating on the water, especially those near the pool's edges. This is why this tool can be equipped with or without a handle to facilitate its manipulation. Its length varies depending on the tool's use. Furthermore, there are telescopic poles that fit both skimmers and brushes, but also pool brooms. Regarding the net, the surface skimmer only has a sieve, making it less practical for collecting a large amount of debris. In other words, this tool is not designed to pick up residues at the bottom of the water.
Dirt found at the bottom of the pool requires a deep skimmer equipped with a deeper net that can collect all the dirt in the water. As with the surface model, the pole is also detachable.
To ensure these pool maintenance accessories last over time, it is preferable to opt for quality materials. Indeed, users can choose between models made of plastic or aluminum. Aluminum skimmers are more durable than those made of plastic. The same is true for the handles. Moreover, skimmers with detachable handles are easy to store and last longer.
Note that the nets of pool skimmers must be robust with tight meshes to be able to collect the finest pollutants. Their use prevents filtration problems and ensures the cleanliness of the pool water.
