If you're looking for a bathroom bin for purely functional use (i.e. holding rubbish), your bin can be discreetly placed in a corner, such as underneath or inside a bathroom unit. In order for this to work, the dimensions of the bin must, of course, be compatible with the size of the unit.
On the other hand, if you're looking at decorative models to tie in with the rest of your bathroom decor, you can place it on show (for example, near a wash basin).
The most basic type of bin, lidless bins are perfect for disposing of paper and plastic waste. If the model cannot be cleaned easily, however, you should use bin bags.
Operated with your foot, this type of bin prevents you from having to bend down and is also very hygienic.
Simply push on the cover to swing open this type of bin.
Automatic bins use an infrared detection system to open automatically when you pass your hand over the cover. These modern bins usually run on batteries.
Bathroom bins come in a range of materials, including:
stainless steel, hard-wearing and easy to maintain;
powder-coated steel, comes in all colours;
PVC plastic, good value and lightweight;
zinc plating, for a vintage look;
bamboo, for an exotic feel.
Depending on the number of people using it, a bathroom bin can be 3, 5, 6 litres or even larger. Choose the volume of your bin based on your needs and the space available.
You can get various shapes of bathroom bin: round, square, triangular… When it all comes down to it, it's simply a question of taste!
