HAEMMERLIN
HAEMMERLIN is a French company founded on 25 October 1867 by Charles Haemmerlin in Saverne (Bas-Rhin). It started out as a simple wrought-iron workshop producing bread ovens, before moving on to more complex items such as wrought-iron railings, fountains and canopies. Twenty years later, his son Georges joined him and launched a new range in 1895: metal wheelbarrows. At the time, this was a real innovation for all building professionals. It was also the date of birth of the brand's logo, the man pushing his wheelbarrow. The founder's grandsons then took over, and by the 1960s production had risen to 25,000 wheelbarrows; the company also diversified into dumpers and tarmac machines. The fourth generation took over in the 1980s and in 2006 bought Chillington, the UK's leading manufacturer of wheelbarrows and hand trucks. The last member of the family, Bernard Haemmerlin, retired from the day-to-day running of the company in 2011. That's when Centaure and Haemmerlin merge. The good old Haemmerlin is getting into step with the times, swapping his pipe for a flower. Innovation is always present in innovative models such as the motorised wheelbarrow designed in 2003. The most emblematic wheelbarrow remains the "plume 140 ans", weighing just 9 kilos, created for the company's 140th anniversary.
