As the name suggests, the drainage channel and its accessories are installed on the terrace, by the pool, or in the driveway to prevent flooding of the house's exterior space. Some models are intended for indoor use, particularly in walk-in showers.
Here are some things to know about the shower drain:
- it replaces the floor trap to collect runoff water;
- this rectangular gutter has a flow rate of 40 l/min to 80 l/min;
- it is embedded in the floor;
- some models come with a ready-to-tile panel;
- a slope of 1% to 3% is recommended to optimize water flow.
The shower drain is often accompanied by the following accessories:
- a grille with adjustable feet;
- a removable or non-removable siphon;
- a waterproofing membrane;
- gaskets.
Here are some things to know about water drainage channels or street gutters:
- they are intended for rainwater drainage;
- they are connected to a spreading system or the waste water drainage network;
- concrete models are valued for their sturdiness;
- polymer concrete models stand out for their strength, frost resistance, and flow capacity;
- PVC models are praised for their ease of installation, durability, and lightness;
- polypropylene and polyethylene models resist chemicals.
Street gutters are equipped with grilles:
- they can be slotted, perforated, or grating;
- they are made from various materials such as PVC, polyethylene, polypropylene, steel, or cast iron;
- the grille can form a single piece with the gutter.
Thus, the choice of drainage channel depends on its use (walk-in shower or outdoor). It should be noted that the holes of the grilles must be less than 2 cm wide to suit persons with reduced mobility.
