A swimming pool for children is an alternative to in-ground and above-ground models, making the little ones happy during the beautiful summer days. Foldable, tubular, or inflatable, it can be easily installed in the garden.
Foldable pools have certain characteristics to know:
- they come in different models of square, round, or hexagonal shape;
- they are stored in their waterproof carrying bag;
- they weigh less than 1 kg, which makes them easy to move;
- they have a capacity of 80 L to 100 L of water (20 cm to 25 cm in height);
- it's enough to spread them out on the ground, unfold their edges, and fill them with water.
Inflatable models offer an alternative:
- they are suitable for the smallest children, as they can cushion impacts;
- square, rectangular, round, and oval models are available;
- some versions have unusual shapes (dream landscape, small house, pirate ship, etc.) to encourage children's development;
- others include games like a slide.
Tubular models are also available:
- they consist of a metal frame to be assembled and a laminated canvas that attaches to it;
- their assembly takes only a few minutes;
- round or square, they are large enough to accommodate 2 or 3 children;
- their height varies from 25 cm to 30 cm with a capacity of up to 300 L;
- their empty weight is about 5 kg.
Hard shell models are also offered:
- they consist of a rigid polyester shell;
- they can serve as a paddling pool or a sandbox;
- they come in different shapes;
- they are shallow and thus suitable for very young children.
Some parameters should be considered when choosing a swimming pool for children:
- the model should be suited to the available space;
- a shallow model (less than 20 cm in height) is recommended for children under 3;
- a more sturdy and deeper model (more than 50 cm) is recommended for teenagers;
- the pool must comply with NF standard 71-3.
Some rules must be followed to optimize the safety of children:
- swimming must take place under the constant supervision of an adult;
- wearing arm bands or a float is recommended if the water reaches the child's waist.
Thus, the choice of a swimming pool for a child depends on their age, their size, but also on the available space for installation.
