The mason's tool par excellence, the hammer drill faces the most solid materials. Its power and specific drill bits allow it to penetrate granite, stone, and even reinforced concrete! It's also possible to perform demolition work thanks to its chiseling function. It's also ideal for installing piping or cables using the percussion system.
To help you choose from our wide range of hammer drills, here are some tips.
The impact strength, expressed in joules, is a magnitude of the drilling capacity. For amateurs, 3 joules are sufficient but intensive use requires about 8 joules. The chiseling function is necessary for demolishing slabs or tiles. Finally, weight is also an important criterion. Indeed, some hammer drills are very heavy. Opt for a lighter model to improve its handling and thus its comfort of use.
Consider equipping your portable hammer drill with a range of drill bits and bits to be able to drill all materials. But be careful to choose the right bits. Indeed, unlike drills, hammer drills use SDS Plus or SDS Max bits. The tip of these bits is specific because it automatically fits into the chuck of the hammer drill.
