Has your neighborhood been recently burglarized? Do you want to equip yourself to protect your home? It's a recommended investment, which can prove to be very profitable. Equip yourself with an animal recognition system so your pet can roam freely. Also opt for a dual-band system for optimal security.
Motion detectors are no longer limited to just detecting a movement and triggering an alarm. They are now sophisticated and increasingly equipped with technology.
Basic products are equipped with an infrared volumetric sensor. They cover a 90° area up to a length of 12 meters. They then transmit the motion detection through a sound signal.
This type of product has evolved to give birth to multiple types of motion detectors.
- Some motion detectors are equipped with intelligent pet recognition. Thanks to infrared waves, which depend on heat, sensors can differentiate animals from humans. The system will estimate the weight of the element (this weight varies according to the product) and decide whether or not to trigger the siren. It also knows that animals move closer to the ground and that their body temperature is more uniform than that of the human body.
- Some products can be equipped with cameras. These cameras take photos when an alert is triggered and store them on USB keys but can also send them to you by MMS on your personal mobile phone. This system connected to the wireless telephone network allows you to be directly aware of the reason for the alarm activation, accidental or justified.
- Other products are also designed for special spaces such as hallways. Indeed, in this type of space, it may be that curtains move a bit too much and trigger the alarm. This system then ignores this movement.
Some products have dual-sensor technology. This means that the product is equipped with 2 beams. One beam remains fixed in height and one beam is on the ground (and can be adjustable). The ground beam allows you to adjust the desired detection length. For the alarm to be triggered, both beams must be broken at the same time. This allows for a better evaluation of elements according to their distance from the detector (this element being defined by the system by 2 points of measurement and thus, easily representable). This type of installation also prevents triggering if your pets pass in front (they would only break one beam).
All motion detectors are connected by a control center through a sound signal. This is calculated and represented by a frequency. The most common frequency is 433 Mhz. This is the basic frequency present in single-band detector systems (one possible frequency). The problem with this frequency is that it makes the installation unreliable.
The detector can suffer from interference in your home but also - a well-known trick among thieves - be jammed to prevent the alarm from being triggered.
ManoMano advises you to opt for a dual frequency model, known as "dual-band" or "bi-band". These models feature 2 frequencies between 400 and 800 Mhz. If one frequency is jammed or suffers from interference, the other frequency can still trigger the alert.
Not all models have the same range and detection values, so make sure the product you are looking for meets your request. The majority of detectors are equipped with a 90° detection system that can be placed in corners. If the indicated value is 60°, this angle corresponds to the optical detection value, the infrared detection value being wider.
We hope that you will find the desired product among the brands DIAGRAL, SGD, VELLERMAN, or NICE
