Waiting for a friend, someone rings your doorbell, but how can you be sure it's them? You need a door peephole to avoid opening the door to an unexpected guest. If you want to know who has knocked and rung your doorbell in your absence, equip yourself with a digital peephole; otherwise, a traditional peephole with a viewing angle ranging from 160° to 200° will suffice.
Unwanted or simply unexpected guests may ring your doorbell unexpectedly. You might not want to see them, open the door for them, or maybe you were expecting someone else?
The door peephole is made for this! It also offers the opportunity to protect yourself against burglars who know, if you do not have a peephole, that you are going to open the door. At that moment, a door chain is very useful as well.
There are 2 distinct types of peephole models, the traditional peephole, equipped with a lens and a hole to see through to the other side of the door, and the more complex digital peephole.
- The digital peephole projects images directly onto a small screen rather than looking through the hole of the peephole. This allows even the young ones to see who has rung the doorbell and to open it. Depending on the model, it also allows recording images onto an SD card, even at night, if people have rung the doorbell in your absence, for example, if you go on vacation. It is possible to have color images; and the device can directly integrate a doorbell, which does not require the parallel installation of another doorbell.
- The traditional peephole has a wider angle than the digital peephole, ranging from 160 to 200°, while the digital peephole often does not exceed 90°. This wide angle allows you to see individuals hiding along the wall to the right and left of the front door. It is available in different finishes and can be chosen according to the thickness of your door. Indeed, traditional peepholes are equipped with a telescopic screw system that makes the system adjustable. The traditional peephole is more discreet than the digital peephole, even though it does not have all these options.
