no products foundThe oil boiler is a central heating system used to heat the house. It can also produce domestic hot water (DHW), like wood or gas boilers, and can be either low temperature or condensing. The heat produced is then distributed through a network of hot water radiators or underfloor heating.
This heating device has a few characteristics worth knowing.
- The water is heated by a burner ensuring the combustion of the fuel oil. It is then distributed through the heating circuit or the network intended for domestic hot water.
- The fuel oil storage tank can be installed inside the house if its capacity is less than 2,500 liters. However, the room must be properly ventilated.
Oil boilers are distinguished by their operation.
- Condensing models heat the water in the heating circuit to a temperature of 90°C. They are suited for large volumes to be heated due to their high efficiency. Devices using this technology are eligible for the Energy Transition Tax Credit (CITE).
Thus, the user can deduct 30% of the expenses incurred for their purchase and installation from their income tax.
- So-called "low temperature" units heat the water to a temperature of 40°C. They thus allow energy savings.
The available installations also differ in their technology.
- Open or atmospheric models are connected to a chimney flue to evacuate gases from combustion. A system to renew the air inside the room is essential to optimize combustion.
- Sealed or combi models can be installed in a closed room. Indeed, they are equipped with two circuits enabling them to have an air supply and to expel gases from combustion.
So-called mixed or dual-purpose oil boilers use different systems to produce domestic hot water.
- Instant hot water production is possible for households equipped with a single bathroom. This system is suited for low hot water needs.
- The micro-accumulation system is equipped with a small capacity tank allowing the user to have immediate hot water.
- The accumulation system requires installing a large capacity hot water tank. This type of installation is recommended for families of 4 or more people.
Ultimately, the choice of an oil boiler depends on the volume to be heated, the needs for domestic hot water, and the room intended to host it.
