Description
Carbon brushes are mounted on the brush holder to ensure free up-and-down movement. The gap between the carbon brushes and the inner wall of the brush holder should be between 0.1 and 0.3 mm to prevent the carbon brushes from rolling due to excessive play between the brushes and the holder. The width between the bottom edge of the brush holder and the switch surface should be approximately 2 mm.
Carbon brushes are suitable for a wide range of motors, generators, and shafts. They offer improved switching performance.
The carbon brushes move up and down in the brush holder. If they are not working properly, remove the brush heads. If the carbon brushes are worn to a certain point, they should be replaced with new ones.
If old and new carbon brushes are mixed, the current distribution may be uneven. If the carbon brush wires are covered with insulated tubing, mount them on insulated carbon brush holders. The surface orientation must be correct; otherwise, the generated current will be low if the contact area is too small.
