Description

General description

This is a pack of 2 MX Flexi Seal Strips, designed to transform any flat top shower tray or bath into a tiling upstand option. It creates a watertight seal between the tray and the wall, providing a professional waterproofing solution that is applied by hand to the wall-facing sides of shower trays or baths prior to installation. The flexibility of the product makes it suitable for new builds, repairs, or renovations, and it is ideal for use in bathrooms, showers, kitchens, and other areas where a waterproof seal is essential.

Technical specifications

  • Length: 2.8m
  • Pack includes: 2 seal strips
  • Installation

  • Before you start, ensure a technically competent installer undertakes the installation.
  • Tools and materials required (not supplied): Damp cloth, scissors, small roller (or other appropriate tool), silicone sealant (or other suitable sealant).
  • Remove protective film from the edge of the tray where the seal strip will be attached, leaving it over the base of the tray to protect its surface during installation.
  • Wipe the surfaces clean where the strip will be attached with a damp cloth, allow to dry, and then wipe with an IPA wipe.
  • Cut the strip to the required length, ensuring it is at least 20mm longer than needed.
  • Peel back approximately 20cm of backing from the black adhesive strip and attach it to the edge of the shower tray, ensuring it is square and protrudes at least 20mm above the edge.
  • Use a small roller to firmly attach the seal strip, removing any bubbles or creases, especially at the corners.
  • Gradually remove the cover strip in sections while rolling on the seal to ensure it attaches firmly and squarely to the edge of the tray, making sure there are no gaps.
  • Trim off any excess strip.
  • Install the shower tray in the correct position and tile over the seal strip.
  • Apply a protective bead of silicone or other suitable flexible sealant between the tray and the tile.
  • Finally, remove the remaining protective film from the rest of the shower tray.

    Advice from

    Shower tray buying guide

Shower trays are an essential part of bathroom design. Walk in or low profile trays are enclosed by a shower screen and/or door and equipped with a shower head, hose and riser rail kit. By contrast, wet room trays are installed with an overhead shower head and form the base of a walk in shower. Read on to find the right shower tray for you.
