Description
1) Reliable circuit protection, without residual current protection (RCD)This 2P 10 A miniature circuit breaker (MCB) is designed to provide protection against overloads and short circuits in domestic and commercial installations. In the event of prolonged overcurrent (too many devices on the same circuit) or a sudden fault (short circuit), it trips automatically to cut the power supply and limit the risks of conductor overheating, insulation ageing and, more broadly, fire starting.Important: this model does not include residual current protection; it therefore does not detect leakage currents/indirect contact. For damp, outdoor or higher-risk areas (bathroom, kitchen, building site, accessible sockets), it is recommended to pair it with a residual current device (RCD/RCCB) or to opt for a residual current circuit breaker with overcurrent protection (RCBO), in accordance with common practice and the regulatory requirements applicable to your installation.2) 2 poles (2P): simultaneous disconnection for greater safety and maintenance convenienceThe 2P configuration means that the circuit breaker opens two conductors simultaneously (generally live + neutral in single-phase, or two lives depending on the network architecture). This “double” disconnection is valued in distribution boards when a clearer isolation of the circuit is desired for maintenance, troubleshooting or later work. In many applications, this improves the readability of the protected circuits and reduces the risk of error during maintenance operations, particularly in lighting enclosures, sub-distribution boards, control cabinets and small technical enclosures. This “miniature” format is designed for neat and rational integration into a board, typically on a standard rail (depending on the board equipment), while retaining simple operation and consistent tripping.3) 10 A rating + C curve: a versatile choice for lighting, small socket circuits and loads with inrush currentWith a rated current of 10 A, this MCB is suitable for circuits whose operating current remains durably below this value. It is particularly suited to lighting circuits, certain “low-power” socket circuits (IT equipment, TV, router, stable equipment) and control circuits in small automation systems. The C tripping curve is a very common standard in Europe: it tolerates start-up inrush currents better than the B curve (for example switched-mode power supplies, LED drivers, fans, small pumps or low-power motors), reducing nuisance tripping when energising. Conversely, if your loads are strictly resistive and very stable, another curve may sometimes be considered; the final sizing must remain consistent with the type of load, the conductor cross-section, the installation method and local wiring rules.4) Essential technical characteristics: 230–400 V AC, 50/60 Hz, breaking capacity 6 kA, EN 60898-1 complianceThis circuit breaker is specified for use at AC 230 to 400 V and a frequency of 50/60 Hz, covering most usual low-voltage distribution configurations. Its 6 kA breaking capacity (an indicative value of its ability to interrupt a short-circuit current without being damaged) meets the frequent needs of downstream sub-distribution boards and standard installations. In environments where the prospective short-circuit current may be higher (proximity to a transformer, main incoming supply, certain industrial installations), it is advisable to have the short-circuit current checked by a professional and, if necessary, to select a device with a higher breaking capacity. The reference to the EN 60898-1 standard makes integration into residential/commercial projects easier and helps harmonise components, particularly for replacement or maintenance.5) Installation and selection advice, for effective and durable protectionTo avoid repeated tripping or, conversely, insufficient protection, the 10 A rating must be chosen in line with the cable cross-section and the actual use of the circuit: a rating that is too high can allow an overload that is dangerous for the conductors, while a rating that is too low can cause unjustified interruptions. Terminal tightening and connection quality are crucial: a poorly tightened connection can lead to overheating and failures. Work in an electrical board involves serious risks (electric shock, arc, fire); installation and checking before energising must be carried out by a qualified person. Finally, since this model is without residual current protection, adding dedicated residual current protection is recommended where the application requires it: you thus obtain more complete protection, combining overload/short-circuit protection (MCB) and earth leakage/indirect contact protection (RCD), in line with common safety expectations on the European market. If you give me the mounting type (DIN rail 35 mm confirmed or not), the permissible cable cross-section range at the terminals, and possibly the board brand/model, I can also write an “e-commerce technical data sheet” version even more in line with French reading habits (sections, benefits, compatibilities, precautions, FAQ).
