Description
1) Reliable circuit protection, without residual current function (without earth leakage)This 2P 40 A miniature circuit breaker (MCB) is designed to protect electrical installations against overcurrents: overload (current too high for a prolonged period) and short circuit (sudden increase in current). In the event of a fault, it trips quickly in order to limit conductor heating, insulation ageing and the risk of damage to appliances. Please note: this model does not include residual current protection (RCD/RCCB/RCBO). To protect people against insulation faults and the risk of electric shock, it is recommended to add a residual current device upstream or to choose a combined solution depending on the switchboard layout.2) 2-pole format (2P), simultaneous disconnection and more complete isolationThe 2-pole configuration allows two conductors to be controlled and isolated, typically live + neutral on a single-phase circuit, or two conductors of a circuit requiring complete disconnection. Compared with a 1P, the 2P is often preferred when clearer isolation is required for maintenance, better circuit readability and safer use of the switchboard. It is suitable for homes, shops, offices and small workshops, as protection for dedicated outgoing circuits (depending on cable sizing and the actual power demand).3) 40 A rating, suitable for high-consumption outgoing circuits (if the wiring allows it)With a rated current of 40 A, this circuit breaker is intended for circuits with higher demand, for example certain heating circuits, hot water cylinder, air conditioning, kitchen, high-power equipment or supply to a sub-distribution board. The rating should never simply be chosen as the highest: it must remain consistent with the conductor cross-section, installation method and appliance power. A rating that is too high may allow an overload that is dangerous for the cables to pass through; a rating that is too low may cause nuisance tripping. If in doubt, refer to the applicable sizing rules and seek professional advice.4) C tripping curve, versatile for domestic and commercial applicationsThe C curve is one of the best compromises for standard installations: it better tolerates moderate inrush currents at start-up (motors, compressors, fans, small tools) while ensuring effective protection in the event of a fault. It is therefore suitable for many general-purpose circuits (sockets, circuits dedicated to certain appliances, technical outgoing circuits). For loads with very high inrush currents, other curves may be more appropriate; here, the C curve is aimed at versatility and day-to-day stability.5) Compliance and essential characteristics for electrical switchboardsDesigned for standard integration in an enclosure or switchboard, this MCB meets the expectations of low-voltage installations: AC 230–400 V, 50/60 Hz, breaking capacity 6 kA to handle usual short-circuit currents in residential or commercial environments, and compliance with EN 60898‑1. Installation is recommended by a qualified person, with correct terminal tightening and wiring checks in order to avoid any hot spots. For complete installation protection, a common configuration consists of combining an upstream residual current device (protection of people) and branch circuit breakers such as this one on each outgoing circuit (protection of lines and equipment), making fault diagnosis easier in the event of tripping.
